How MOBHOPE works together
Project structure
MOBHOPE connects European project coordination, shared scientific direction and three mobile outreach teams in Spain, Portugal and Croatia. Five work packages link community care, research, training and service development, with input from an independent External Advisory Board.

Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón
The Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón (FIBHGM) coordinates MOBHOPE. Pablo Ryan is the project coordinator and principal investigator. Antonio Martín, Ph.D., is the Project Manager, supporting day-to-day coordination, follow-up of activities and communication across the consortium.
Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón (FIBHGM)Steering Committee
The Steering Committee brings together scientific leadership, project management and representatives of the mobile units to discuss progress, agree priorities and coordinate shared work. Its work includes training, the research framework, stigma activities and mobile-unit procedures. Antonio Martín supports the committee’s follow-up through regular meetings and communication between partners.

Ten external experts contribute scientific, public health and community perspectives to MOBHOPE. The Board provides independent advice on the project’s work and helps connect it with wider experience in liver health, prevention and access to care. Community work is delivered by UMC, run by Madrid Positivo in Spain; Ares do Pinhal (ADP) in Portugal; and Hepatos in Croatia. Their frontline experience informs the shared MOBHOPE model and connects the project with the communities it serves.

Five connected work packages
MOBHOPE’s work is organised into communication and health promotion; the cascade of care and operational research; stigma and human dignity; standardisation and quality improvement; and coordination, management and evaluation. These areas connect what teams learn in the field with training, research and practical tools for mobile services.

MOBHOPE exchanges experience with SHIELD Joint Action on training, prevention and stigma. The project also uses World Hepatitis Alliance and ECDC tools in its work on stigma. These collaborations and exchanges complement the consortium’s work and the independent advice of the External Advisory Board.
