MOBHOPE at EASL Congress 2026
The MOBHOPE team took part in EASL Congress 2026 in Barcelona. Alongside the Hepatos mobile unit, the team shared the project’s approach to bringing liver health services closer to communities.
This presence is part of MOBHOPE’s ongoing work to share practical experience in accessible, person-centred care and connect with the wider liver health community.

The accepted poster will be presented by Hugo Faria, from Ares do Pinhal (ADP), with the poster session scheduled for 7 October.
The presentation will introduce the MOBHOPE model and its focus on making mobile liver health services more consistent and accessible for underserved populations across Europe.

Three mobile units, one shared approach: World Hepatitis Day
MOBHOPE took part in “Més a prop de les persones: unitats mòbils per a l’eliminació de les hepatitis víriques”, a webinar organised by the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Department of Health. The session brought together local and international experience in mobile screening and access to care.
The three units presented complementary approaches: UMC’s mobile screening in Madrid, Ares do Pinhal’s harm reduction work in Lisbon, and Hepatos’s work with people in prison in Croatia. Ana Višić represented Hepatos at the session. Pablo Ryan also presented the European MOBHOPE project, focusing on standardising mobile services and exchanging good practices.

MOBHOPE at the SEIMC 2026 Congress in Bilbao
MOBHOPE featured in Pablo Ryan's presentation at the SEIMC 2026 Congress. He discussed the project in the context of hepatitis C and care for people in vulnerable situations, bringing the experience of mobile services to this national forum on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.
The congress took place at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao from 28 to 30 May 2026. The full scientific programme is available below.

MOBHOPE and Hepatos at the World Hepatitis Summit in Bangkok
Tatjana Reić represented Hepatos at the World Hepatitis Summit, held in Bangkok from 28 to 30 April 2026. In the session “Hepatitis elimination in prisons”, she gave an oral poster presentation on a partnership model for HCV microelimination in Croatian prisons.
She also presented “MOBHOPE: opportunity to impact HBV response through EU project – Croatian perspective” at a WHO/Europe meeting. These two contributions shared the Croatian experience of hepatitis elimination and the opportunities offered by European cooperation through MOBHOPE.

Jorge Valencia presents MOBHOPE at the GEITS–GEHEP webinar
GEITS and GEHEP held a joint webinar on viral hepatitis as sexually transmitted infections, bringing together perspectives from sexual health and hepatology. Moderated by Pilar Vázquez and Pablo Ryan, the session addressed the current epidemiological context and approaches to screening, prevention and clinical care.
In his talk “Estrategias de cribado de VHC: del hospital a la comunidad” (HCV screening strategies: from hospital to community), Jorge Valencia discussed mobile units, the experience of Madrid Positivo's UMC and the MOBHOPE project. The shared slide presents evidence from mobile screening in Madrid during 2017–2023, which predates MOBHOPE and informs its approach.

MOBHOPE at the Croatia liver health roundtable
Pablo Ryan presented the MOBHOPE model and data online at the Croatia Roundtable / Patient Meeting on Liver Health.
The meeting brought patients, professionals and organisations together to discuss liver health. It offered a setting to exchange experience and strengthen dialogue around access to care.

WHO/Europe World Hepatitis Day webinar
Ana Višić participated on behalf of the Croatian Society for Liver Diseases Hepatos in this European exchange on hepatitis. MOBHOPE was presented at the webinar, ahead of the project's official kick-off meeting in December 2025.
The event brought together WHO/Europe, the Eurasian Harm Reduction Association, the European Liver Patients' Association and the World Hepatitis Alliance. The announced programme included updates from ECDC and the European Union Drugs Agency, alongside country experiences from Belarus, Croatia, Iceland, Portugal and Spain.

About MOBHOPE
MOBHOPE — Mobile Hepatitis Outreach and Prevention Effort — is co-funded by the European Union through the EU4Health Programme. Running from 2025 to 2028, it aims to strengthen, standardise and expand mobile healthcare for people at increased risk of HIV, sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis and liver disease.
The project is coordinated by the Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Spain. Its three mobile outreach units are run by Madrid Positivo (UMC) in Spain, Ares do Pinhal (ADP) in Portugal and Hepatos in Croatia, bringing clinical, public health and community experience together.
Through mobile clinics, point-of-care diagnostics, community engagement and operational research, MOBHOPE works towards earlier diagnosis, better access to care and fewer health inequalities. Understanding social barriers and developing a shared European service package are central to creating tools and practices that other services can adopt.
